HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 cc118-9W
88. Mr. Lipson

asked the Minister of Transport if, in the interest of road safety, he will abolish the amber light after the green, while retaining it after the red on all traffic lights.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

No. The amber signal gives a warning to traffic that the lights are about to turn from green to red, and its omission would not, in the view of my right hon. Friend, be in the interests of road safety.
