asked the Minister of Transport how many first-class sleeper berths are retained by his Department; and to what officials they are allocated.

Out of a weekly total of 7,088 first-class sleeping berths on all routes some 20 per cent. are reserved by my Department for priority passengers. This 20 per cent. is allocated approximately as follows: Business and professional men, 66 per cent.; Peers and Members of Parliament, 24 per cent.; Armed Services, 6 per cent.; Civil Servants, 4 per cent.
