HC Deb 01 August 1947 vol 441 cc94-5W
Lieut.-Commander Braithwaite

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the length of time and great delay in constructing the roundabout on road A63 at the junction of the Brough—Hull road in the East Riding of Yorkshire; how much the work will cost; and if the East Riding County Council were asked to do this on a road which they manage and maintain.

Mr. Barnes

The construction of the roundabout on this trunk road was begun last October by my Department's Direct Labour Organisation. There were considerable interruptions by the severe weather last winter, but the roundabout should be open to traffic in about two weeks. The scheme is estimated to cost £15,500. It was not entrusted to the East Riding County Council, in view of the extent of their maintenance works.
