HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c73W
91. Mr. Marlowe

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that a former anti-aircraft gun site, known as Sunninghill, Hangleton, Hove, is still under requisition by his Department; why release to the Hove Corporation has been refused, in view of the fact that, in co-operation with the Ministry of Health, the corporation has completed arrangements for the immediate building of 122 houses on the site; and whether his Department will now release this land as the houses are required and no alternative site is available.

Mr. Bellenger

In view of the desire of the local authority to use this land for housing, efforts are being made to find an alternative site to meet the Army requirements, which still continue. Meanwhile, the site has been offered on loan for temporary housing.
