HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c73W
90. Mr. West

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of service personnel who have served in the Far East for a period exceeding 18 months without leave.

Mr. Bellenger

The information is not available in the War Office. I have called for the figures from the commands concerned and will write to my hon. Friend when they are received. The rules governing home leave from India and the Far East were stated on 4th June and 16th July in reply to Questions by my hon. Friends the members for West Wolverhampton (Mr. H. D. Hughes) and South Cardiff (Mr. Callaghan). The facilities are necessarily more restricted than in other commands, owing to distance and shortage of shipping.
