HC Deb 06 November 1946 vol 428 c255W
87. Mr. Royle

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that the South American a/c hams, classed in category A and weighing only from 7 lbs. to II lbs. are most unsuitable to the grocer to cut for ration; and if steps will be taken to make allowances so that all consumers may obtain the bacon ration.

Mr. Strachey

It has been necessary to allow South American shippers to supply light weight hams so as to provide all possible bacon for the ration. But I am not aware that consumers have failed to receive their rations on that account.
