HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c194W
Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Education the total number of students attending full-time courses of all types at technical colleges in England and Wales at the latest date for which figures are available

Miss Wilkinson

The latest date for which figures are available is the educational year 1944–45 when 32,252 senior students were attending courses of all types in technical colleges and art schools. It is not possible to give separate figures for technical colleges for that year. During 1944–45 there were also in attendance at technical colleges students in courses organised on behalf of other Government Departments, i.e. Service Departments and the Ministry of Labour and National Service. The technical colleges also accommodated a large proportion of the 61,015 pupils in junior technical schools.
