HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 cc168-9W
58. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he has consulted appropriate organisations, including trade unions, in order to secure reasonable approximate estimates of the number of workers required for agriculture during the next 18 months; and the number likely to be available, apart from prisoners of war, taking into consideration man-power requirements for the fighting services and for industry.

Mr. T. Williams

Estimates of future labour requirements and supplies in agriculture are regularly made by my Department, and the 1947 position is being assessed under these arrangements. The estimates are prepared after consultation with county war agricultural executive committees, the membership of which is drawn from all sections of the agricultural industry, including the workers.
