HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c175W
98. Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the unsatisfactory transport services in Salford where people have to wait for excessively long periods in queues, owing to shortage of omnibuses; why no new omnibuses have been delivered although they have been on order for over two years; and if he will take steps to enable the service in this area to be developed.

Mr. Barnes

According to my information the corporation have had no vehicles on order for longer than one year. Delivery was to commence in September but there has been some delay in the production of the bodies. I understand that the management are taking energetic steps to increase the number of vehicles available by improving the system of maintenance and by endeavouring to hire.
