HC Deb 21 May 1946 vol 423 c71W
Mr. Maude

asked the Attorney-General whether the question of preparing a Crown Proceedings Bill has now received preliminary consideration; what steps have been taken to prepare such a Bill; and whether it is the Government's intention to introduce such a Bill at the earliest possible opportunity.

The Attorney-General

It has not yet been possible to prepare a Crown Proceedings Bill without interrupting the preparation of still more urgent measures, but it is intended to undertake the necessary work as soon as pressure of other matters allows. The question what priority can be given to the introduction of this Bill is being kept under review, but I cannot hold out any hope that it will be introduced this Session.
