Major McCallum

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will consider speeding up the arrangements whereby Service personnel serving abroad, whose presence at home is urgently required owing to the dangerous illness of a near relative, can be repatriated with the least possible delay, and if he will arrange that, in such cases, the Serviceman's unit is informed by signal, and not by letter, that the man's presence is required in this country.

In urgent 4 aces of this kind, everything possible is done to ensure speedy action throughout, and the Commander-in-Chief, with whom rests the decision in each individual case whether leave can be granted, is informed of the circumstances by signal as soon as they have been verified. In cases where leave is granted, arrangements already exist which provide for the man's ship and depot to be notified by signal and for high priority to he given to the provision of transport
