HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 c233W
Mr. Spence

asked the President of the Board of Trade when supplies of manilla rope will again become available to inshore fishermen.

Mr. Belcher:

It is hoped that small quantities of manilla hemp may become available to this country shortly, but the limited supplies have to be reserved for the uses in which other fibres cannot be made to serve, and I regret I am not yet in a position to say how soon it will be possible to provide manilla rope for inshore fishermen.
