HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 cc226-7W
79. Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison

asked the Minister of Food whether he will give an assurance that no import licences for the importing of coffee essences will be granted at a date earlier than 12 months after the restriction on the supply of raw materials to home manufacturers has been withdrawn.

Sir B. Smith:

Licences for the import of coffee essence would be granted, if at all, by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade on my advice. I have no present intention of recommending him to do so, but I cannot give any undertaking in regard to future policy.

80. Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison

asked the Minister of Food whether he will give an assurance that, when imported coffee essences are permitted, they will be required to comply with the stipulations of the Food Standards (Liquid Coffee Essence) Order, 1945, and the Labelling of Food (No. 2) Order, 1944.

Sir B. Smith:

Yes, Sir.
