HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 c399W
65. Mr. J. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health how many houses it has been arranged to build in the county borough of Bolton; are they to be built by direct labour or by private builders; on how many has work commenced; and is he satisfied with the progress that has been made.

Mr. Bevan

With regard to the first three parts of the Question, Appendix B of the Housing Return for England and Wales shows the position up to the end of January. I should mention however that the figure shown in the Appendix as regards licences issued for private house building in Bolton should be corrected so as to read "123." Later figures will be issued shortly. With regard to the last part of the Question, I am never satisfied with housing progress, but have no reason to believe that the Bolton Corporation arc not alive to their duties and responsibilities.
