HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 c386W
118. Mr. Garry Allighan

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that only 686 airmen of ground trades have rejoined for further service on regular engagement subsequent to their demobilisation; that this represents .2 per cent, of the total Class A releases in those trades; and whether he will give an ex planation for this.

Mr. Strachey

I realise that the total number of airmen in ground trades who have rejoined for service on regular engagements after release is only a very small percentage of the total Class A releases in those trades. Airmen who desire to undertake further service on regular engagements may, however, do so without leaving the R.A.F. and, excluding all officers and airmen aircrews, we had received 14,726 of these applications up to 2nd March.
