HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 cc385-6W
114. Mr. Piratin

asked the Undersecretary of State for Air if he is aware that 1464000 L.A.C. Cohen, stationed in the United Kingdom, applied for compassionate posting through his station commander in October, 1945, and received no decision on his application; that the hon. Member for Mile End wrote to the Secretary of State on 23rd January, 1946, and that apart from formal acknowledgements on 28th January, 19th February and 2nd March, 1946, no decision has yet been communicated on this case; and if he will now deal with this matter and state the reason for the delay of six months.

Mr. Strachey

The hon. Member will by now have received my letter of 15th March. There is no trace either in the Department or at the airman's station of any application submitted in October. The only application of which we have knowledge was one submitted on 28th January. The evidence was not sufficient to justify posting on compassionate grounds, but this airman has since been posted on service grounds to a station near his home.
