HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 cc317-8W
Captain Gunter

asked the Minister of Food why he refuses to grant Southend-on-Sea education authority any additional food for Victory celebrations in schools, because the authority, for substantial reasons, desire to hold such celebrations on 6th June and not on 8th June.

Mr. Strachey

The quantity of food used for special functions must be as small as possible and to achieve this end I have had to restrict special supplies for Victory celebrations to functions held on Victory Day only. Existing regulations provide for the issue of rationed foods for parties organised for young people by reputable bodies, such as the Southend-on-Sea Education Authority, at any other time.
