HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 c317W
Mr. Cobb

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that fresh fruit supplied to retailers is being bottled by them and sold at several times the controlled price of the uncooked article; and if he will take steps to ensure that this fruit is vended in a fresh condition by the retailers.

Mr. Strachey

I take it that my hon. Friend refers to the small quantity of fruit, which must not exceed 20 cwt. in any one case, which may be bottled by anyone, without a licence. I am keeping this matter under close observation but I do not think that there should be any discrimination against retailers.
