HC Deb 21 February 1946 vol 419 cc302-3W
Commander Noble

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the long delays in the delivery of mail to and from troops serving in North Borneo; and what steps he is taking to expedite this service.

Mr. Bellenger:

As regards the transport of mails to the Far East generally I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given to the hon. Members for Hornsey (Mr. Gammans) and Uxbridge (Flight-Lieutenant Beswick) on 22nd January. From Singapore, mails for the troops in North Borneo are carried by air to Labuan and Balik Papan. An improvement has recently been made in the time of transit for the whole distance from this country to North Borneo.
