§ Major Wilkesasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that 14992924 Private Brotherton, G., 1st Battalion Liverpool and Scottish regiment, Cameron Highlanders, and of 35, White Cross, Hexham, granted three months' release on compassionate grounds, has been ordered to report to the officer commanding 11 Holding Battalion, Stobs Camp, Hawick, by 9th February; that unless this soldier is granted further release, the father's one-man market gardening business will have to be closed down; and whether he will immediately inquire into this case with a view to granting further compassionate release to this soldier.
§ Mr. LawsonNo application for an extension of compassionate release has been received from this soldier. The case is, however, now being investigated in the light of the facts put forward by my hon. and gallant Friend. As soon as a decision is reached I will write to my hon. and gallant Friend.
