HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 c159W
Sir C. Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the troops in the 2nd Division, when they left India for Malaya, were issued with secondhand clothing, etc., which had previously been worn by Indians and were alive with vermin; that there was no bread on the ship from 17th December, 1945, till 6th January, 1946; and if he will take steps to see that there will be no recurrence of such incidents in India or elsewhere.

Mr. Bellenger

I am making inquiries into this matter and as soon as they are completed I will write to my right hon. Friend.
