HC Deb 09 December 1946 vol 431 c162W
31. Mr. T. Brown

asked the Minister of Transport if his attention has been drawn to the bad conditions now prevailing at the Motive Power Depot, Springs Branch, near Wigan, L.M.S., where 200 men are employed; and what steps are being taken to remedy them, so as to prevent men from leaving the employment of the railway company.

Mr. Barnes

No, Sir, but I have made inquiries and am informed that work is to be put in hand to renew the roof and improve the lay-out of No. 1 Shed. Progress is, however, hampered by shortage of staff. The extension of the canteen, delayed by lack of roofing material, is now in progress.
