HC Deb 09 April 1946 vol 421 c307W
Commander Maitland

asked the Minister of Works on how many days during the Parliamentary week ended on Friday, 5th April, were the furnaces for centrally heating No. 5 Palace Yard alight; and how much fuel was used.

Mr. Tomlinson:

A fire in the central heating boiler in 5 Old Palace Yard was kept going every day during the week ended 5th April, but, in order to save fuel, it was banked most days and every night during this period. The amount of coke used was five hundredweights.
