§ 27. Mr. A. Lewisasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether his attention has been drawn to the case of an aeroplane being chartered to bring flowers from the Scilly Isles at a cost of 100 gallons of petrol; and whether, in view of the need for petrol to be used economically, he will take steps to prevent this in the future.
§ Mr. Shinwell:Allowances of civil aviation fuel are granted to companies operating charter or taxi flights, to provide for a limited number of flying hours a month. I do not consider that it would, be practicable to restrict the business purposes for which civil aircraft may be chartered for journeys within the limits of the fuel allowed.
