HC Deb 09 April 1946 vol 421 c279W
27. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether his attention has been drawn to the case of an aeroplane being chartered to bring flowers from the Scilly Isles at a cost of 100 gallons of petrol; and whether, in view of the need for petrol to be used economically, he will take steps to prevent this in the future.

Mr. Shinwell:

Allowances of civil aviation fuel are granted to companies operating charter or taxi flights, to provide for a limited number of flying hours a month. I do not consider that it would, be practicable to restrict the business purposes for which civil aircraft may be chartered for journeys within the limits of the fuel allowed.
