§ Mr. BevanI am aware that there is some anxiety on this subject. It is too early to make any detailed statement as to the future of the public assistance staffs, but I can assure my hon. Friend that it is proposed to provide for the compensation of any officers of public assistance authorities who may suffer loss of office by reason of any transfer of functions from those authorities to the Government.
