Freemanasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been drawn to the position of the villagers of Karrej who are only allowed to draw their rations on the production of an inoculation certificate; why such conditions operate; on whose responsibility they were instigated; and whether he will take steps to put a stop to them.
§ Mr. A. HendersonI have not heard of any such incident and I cannot trace any village bearing the name quoted. If my hon. Friend will help me by verify- 1877W ing the name of the village and letting me know the province of India in which it is situated I will, unless this is a matter for which Indian Ministers are responsible, ask the Government of India to make inquiries.
