§ Sir W. Smilesasked the Under-Secretary of State for India how long will a British civilian, who was last on home leave in 1938, have to wait in India before he can get a passage home to get married.
§ Mr. A. HendersonSo long as the Service commitments for prisoners of war and men for demobilisation and repatriation remain at their present high level the number of passages available for civilians is extremely small. I can assure the hon. and gallant Member, however, that everything possible is being done to provide homeward passages for civilians, especially for those who have not had home leave for a long time, but I regret that it is not possible to forecast how long any individual may have to wait for a passage.
