HC Deb 12 November 1945 vol 415 c1871W
Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether there has been any record in pre-war years, or any information since, of the incidence of foot-and-mouth disease in the Channel Islands.

Mr. T. Williams

Between 1920 and 1939, there were two series of outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in the Channel Islands. In 1940, six further outbreaks occurred in Jersey, three of them just before the occupation of the Islands by the Germans. There has been no outbreak of the disease in the Islands since 1940.
