§ Major T. Coxasked the Minister of Labour, in view of the statutory obligations of employers to re-engage their former employees, why his local officials do not allow personnel when released from their present directed employment or service in the Forces to revert to their former chosen occupation if they so wish.
1504W
§ Mr. ButlerThe statutory obligations on employers to re-engage their former employees apply only to men and women who have served in the Armed Forces or were compulsorily enrolled in a Civil Defence Force under the National Service Acts. No obstacle is placed by my Department in the way of such persons who, on release from the Forces or from any war work to which they may have been sent before the end of the war with Germany, wish to exercise their reinstatement rights.
