HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 cc1081-2W
Mr. Callaghan

asked the Minister of Works if supplies of slates and guttering to Cardiff and Penarth can be increased, as residents are unable to get long-standing damage repaired because of the absence of these materials.

Mr. Tomlinson

I am afraid that supplies to Cardiff and Penarth could only be increased at present at the expense of other areas with heavy commitments. Every effort is being made to remedy the shortage of these materials, particularly by the recruitment of additional labour to the industries concerned.
