HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1081W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Works if the total number of man-hours required to manufacture an aluminium emergency prefabricated bungalow in the factory; the number of man-hours for this erection complete on site, together with the foundations, etc.; and the approximate number of man-hours required to complete a traditional house such as the Minister of Health permits a private builder to construct at a cost, including land, not exceeding £1,200.

Mr. Wilson

No, Sir; my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply and Aircraft Production does not consider that a statement of man-hours required for the manufacture and erection of the Aluminium house can usefully be made in advance of full-scale production, and for the reasons given in my reply to the hon. and gallant Member for Bucklow (Lieutenant W. Shepherd) on 14th November I am not in a position to make a statement of the man-hours required for a traditional house.
