HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 cc334-5W
Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that holders of the Military Medal awarded during the period 1939–1945 receive pecuniary benefit, whereas holders of the same medal awarded prior to that time receive no such benefit, he will readjust this matter so that holders of equal honours derive an equal benefit.

Mr. Lawson

As announced when the new benefits attached to this and other awards were introduced, it was decided that they should apply only to awards made for service since 3rd September, 1939, and I have confirmed that this decision was reached after the fullest consideration.
