HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 c373W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, in view of the hardship that would be caused, he will review the compulsory decentralisation of the members of the Savings Bank Department, Savings Certificate Division; and will he meet their representatives to discuss the whole matter.

Mr. Burke

It has recently been suggested to the staff, through the medium of the National Whitley Council, that the difficulties of the existing plan for the temporary location at Nottingham of part of the Savings Department might be lessened by the adoption of a plan involving the permanent decentralisation of the Savings Certificate Division of that Department. These proposals will shortly be discussed with the staff representatives through the appropriate machinery.
