HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 cc372-3W
Mr. Binns

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of officers over 60 years of age still serving in shore appointments at home; and if he is satisfied that the claims of younger officers with recent sea service to such appointments are being given full consideration.

Mr. Alexander

The answer to the first part of the Question is 437. Many of these appointments are, of course, coming to an. end, but those that continue are being increasingly filled by younger officers, consistent with the need to meet Naval requirements afloat and abroad.
