asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he will inform the House of the number of accidents to employees of the railway companies of this country for which compensation has been paid, including all grades of those engaged in the manipulation of traffic, repair and construction of vehicles, and maintainence and repair of buildings, for the year ended 31st July, 1943, or the period nearest this date: and what percentage were in receipt of compensation for 13 weeks or more?

During the year ended 31st July, 1943, there were 35,637 accidents, involving injury to an employee of the main line railway companies or the London Passenger Transport Board. In 7.9 per cent. of the cases, compensation was paid for a period of 13 weeks or more.
