asked the President of the Board of Trade why, under the provisions of the Emergency Powers (Defence) Location of Retail Businesses Order (S.R. & O., No. 1065, of 1943), he has made it illegal for a tailor to measure a person at the latter's residence or place of business?

Mr. Dalton

The purpose of this Order, which was made after consultation with the trade, was to bring within the scope of the Location of Retail Businesses Order the establishment by tailors of new branch shops for measuring and fitting clients. I am glad to assure my hon. Friend that the Order does not make it illegal for a tailor to measure a person at the latter's residence or place of business.
