§ Mr. Lees-Jonesasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider making an immediate concession in coupon value, prior to the coming of winter, to enable the general public in this country to purchase warm underclothing to replace old and worn-out garments, especially in view of the fact that large stocks, now dead, have been accumulated in warehouses and retail houses?
§ Mr. DaltonI have recently down-pointed certain cloths and garments made from those cloths and this has had the effect of reducing stocks which had accumulated since rationing was introduced. But I do not propose to down-point underwear, as stocks are not excessive, at present coupon rates, for the winter demand.
