HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 c751W
Mr. Salt

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether the Regional Controller has referred to him the Memorandum on Discipline and Absenteeism in Coal Mines and the adverse effect of the Essential Work Order as at present applied to coalmines, which was recently submitted to him jointly by the Lancashire and Cheshire Colliery Deputies and Shotfirers Association, the Lancashire and Cheshire Colliery Under-managers and Under-lookers' Association and the Lancashire Branch of the National Association of Colliery Managers; and whether he proposes to adopt the remedies suggested?

Major Lloyd George

I have seen the Memorandum on Discipline and Absenteeism to which my hon. Friend refers. My Regional Controller has arranged to meet the three organisations responsible for the memorandum early next week to examine fully with them the suggestions they have made. I shall myself consider the proposals in the light of this discussion.
