HC Deb 30 March 1943 vol 388 c41W
Mr. Foster

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the urgent necessity for increasing the Income Tax allowance for dependent relatives to single sons or daughters who have to maintain a relative who is unfit for work because of old age or infirmity, as the present allowance of £25 for the year is totally inadequate?

Sir K. Wood

As my hon. Friend will appreciate, I cannot anticipate my Budget statement.

Mr. Kirkwood:

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, as he has been unable to accept the scheme proposed to him for the deduction of Income Tax from wages to be based on current earnings, he proposes to deal with this problem in some other way in his forthcoming Budget?

Sir K. Wood

As my hon. Friend will appreciate, I cannot anticipate my Budget statement.
