HC Deb 25 March 1943 vol 387 cc1793-4W
Mr. Groves

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will consult with the Essex War Agricultural Committee with a view to the cultivation of the large pieces of undeveloped land in and around South Benfleet, Essex?

Mr. Hudson

The Essex war agricultural executive committee are already cultivating some 1,500 acres of undeveloped land in the district concerned. Some of the improved land has now been let to tenants, and the committee contemplate taking over and dealing with further land in so far as their resources of machinery, man-power and fertilisers, which are not of course unlimited, will permit.
