HC Deb 25 March 1943 vol 387 c1794W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Home Secretary whether the Kent police superintendents who have been compulsorily retired under his police amalgamation scheme have received pensions for the long services they have rendered?

Mr. H. Morrison

I understand that the superintendents in question had previously applied to retire, but it had not been found possible to release them. The scheme of amalgamation which comes into force on 1st April has, however, made it possible to meet their wishes, and they have accordingly been allowed to retire. All three will receive pensions at the maximum rate.
