HC Deb 04 February 1943 vol 386 c1077W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Home Secretary whether he will give for the year 1942, for England and Wales, the names and ages of all persons condemned to death for murder; the names, dates and prisons of execution of all persons executed for murder; and the names of those reprieved?

Mr. H. Morrison

Twenty-five persons were condemned to death on conviction of murder in 1942. Fifteen have been executed, eight were reprieved, in one case the conviction was quashed on appeal and a verdict of manslaughter was substituted, and one case is still under consideration. I am sending my hon. Friend the other particulars for which he asks.
