HC Deb 10 September 1942 vol 383 c314W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Minister of Health which local authorities in the county of Gloucestershire have made arrangements for the instruction of their midwives in the administration of analgesics at childbirth; and which have taken no action so far?

Miss Horsbrugh

The three local supervising authorities in Gloucestershire, apart from the county council, are Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham. All three councils have made arrangements for the instruction of their midwives in the administration of analgesics. I understand that difficulties arising out of the war have made it impossible for the county council to give effect to similar arrangements which they had prepared before the war broke out.
