HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 c60W
Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for War why, on Sunday, 16th August, the request made by five soldiers, in a town of which he has been informed, to attend service at a Welsh church was refused, in view of the fact that they expressed their preference to worship in their own language and that facilities were available in the town for them to do so?

Major Owen

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the request of a number of Welsh-speaking members of the Pioneer Corps, one of whom was a monoglot Welshman, to attend a Welsh place of worship in a certain town and that this request was refused; and whether he will immediately issue instructions according to Welsh-speaking members of His Majesty's Forces the right to attend divine service in Welsh places of worship where facilities exist?

Sir J. Grigg

I am making inquiries and will communicate with my hon. Friends.
