HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2140W
Captain Gammans

asked the Home Secretary why a National Fire Service vehicle was used by a London Regional official on the 24th September to convey refreshments for a private party at a dance given at London Regional Headquarters; and was this with the knowledge of the London Regional Commissioners?

Mr. H. Morrison

The catering arrangements for this party (at which the principal guests were a number of American officers) were made by the catering organisation of the London Fire Force, but the cost of the refreshments did not fall upon public funds. The answer to the second part of the Question is in the affirmative, and I am satisfied that the arrangement did not involve any avoidable use of transport.
