HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2140W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the case of two Italians, both born in Great Britain, who were intercepted whilst endeavouring to cross to Germany; and whether he has investigated the loyalty of their relatives in this country?

Mr. H. Morrison

I presume my hon. Friend is referring to the two British subjects of Italian origin who were recently convicted at Folkestone. Prior to those proceedings they had been detained in pursuance of Orders made against them under Defence Regulation 18B, and they will be so detained again on the expiry of their sentence. The father of one of them who is an Italian is interned, and according to my information his mother and brothers are in Italy, as are also the parents of the other man.
