HC Deb 07 October 1942 vol 383 c1234W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government will invite the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to send to this country a battalion of the soldiers and citizens now defending Stalingrad in order that our towns and cities can demonstrate in a practical way the admiration felt for their heroic stand?

Mr. Attlee

I doubt whether the Soviet Government would wish to withdraw at the present time from the defence of Stalingrad, for the purpose indicated, any of its active citizens or soldiers.
