asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies the approximate sum which has actually been allocated, under the Colonial Development and Welfare Act, 1940, to suitable schemes in the West Indies and the approximate amount spent on these schemes to date?

The amount allocated to schemes made under the Act in the West Indies up to date is £1,207,241: issues made under these schemes amount to £173,753.
