Dr. Russell Thomasasked the Minister of Labour whether he will see that the panels of interviewers of women called up for National Service are appointed, as far as possible, to districts other than that in which they reside?
§ Mr. BevinNo, Sir. The nature of many of the questions now being considered by the panels requires that members should have an up-to-date, practical knowledge of local conditions. In most places there is only one panel for a large area, and the members are voluntary and cannot be expected to travel far afield.
