§ Mr. MabaneThere has been a slight decline in deliveries of flour since the introduction of national wheatmeal, but statistics of bread production are not yet complete. It is, therefore, as yet too soon to say whether the decline in flour deliveries has been due to a fall in bread consumption or to other contributory factors. More complete statistics will be available in July, but on the evidence at present available I am unable to say whether any change has occurred recently in the trend of bread consumption.
